INTRODUCTION

Rajiv Grover has had a unique career in Plastic Surgery and this is clearly reflected in the awards he has received during his medical education and in his subsequent contributions to Plastic Surgery within the United Kingdom and Internationally. He began his education with a Scholarship from Staffordshire for achieving the highest A-Level results in the county (Lord Heatherton Memorial Scholarship) which covered his medical, education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London where Rajiv had always dreamed of studying.

St Bartholomew’s was the medical school where Sir Harold Gillies, the pioneering surgeon who first developed Plastic Surgery at the turn of the last century was himself educated. It has since had a long history and reputation for Plastic Surgery.

Rajiv graduated in Medicine with Honours from St Bartholomew’s Hospital and a Triple Distinction from London University. He later became a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) having been awarded the Hallett Prize and Gold Medal for the highest score in the United Kingdom. During his training he was awarded a scholarship from the Royal College of Surgeons in Facial Plastic Surgery to Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA.

Later Rajiv was awarded a Hunterian Professorship at The Royal College of Surgeons in London. Rajiv is recognized for his ability to provide a natural look by combining artistry with his Facelift technique. For his research into Leonardo da Vinci’s depiction of natural beauty and its application to Facelift Surgery he was awarded a Guggenheim Professorship at the Louvre in Paris. All of these are achievements that Rajiv is privileged to have received but the only thing that really matters to him and also his patients is striving to get the best possible outcome for their surgery and seeing their transformation. It is simply this which motivates him and has given him the most pleasure in his career.

The pleasure of looking after facelift patients is what motivates Rajiv and what he values most.
